Synonymy Although not followed by Hartman, Reish's (1954) synonymies to Nereis grubei were Thoosa gayi (Blanchard, 1849) sensu Kinberg, 1865, N. (Nereis) eucapitis Hartman, 1936, N. (N.) pseudoneanthes Hartman, 1936, and N. mediator Chamberlin, 1918 (q.v.). Earlier Hartman (1948: 67) had examined Heteronereis grubei and placed it under Nereis callaona Grube. Reish disagreed, and treated them as distinct.
