Synonymy Usage recombined transferred into Protocirrineris followed Petersen's 1991 reinstatement note and subsequent pers comm (eg Read 2004 online species list at annelida.net) but first appearance in print may be in Glasby et al (2009). Later Magalhães & Bailey-Brock (2013) redescribed Protocirrineris nuchalis from syntypes [details]Type locality Waiheke Island, New Zealand, approx 36.8062 S, 175.0362 E.
