The scorpionfish Scorpaena nasicornua n. sp. is described from the Gulf of Aden. The new species is characterised by dorsal-fin spines 12 and soft rays 9, anal-fin spines III and soft rays 5; pectoral-fin rays 17; occiput with a deep pit or depression; scales on body and pectoral-fin base ctenoid; base of pectoral fin and chest scaled; scales on flank cycloid 41 in lateral row behind supracleithral spine to base of caudal fin; predorsal scales 5; no mandibular pores at symphysis of lower jaw; interorbital distance 1.9 in orbit diameter. A key to the species of Scorpaena in the eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean (including the Red Sea) is presented.
