Lepidonotus robustus Moore, 1905, the pharynx of which has 11ot been hitherto inve­ stigated, was found to possess 30 pairs of oral papillae. The papillae have numerous (up to 20) additional processes on the jnnet side (figs.). Up to now, such unusual papil­ lae have not been reported from polynoids. On this basis a new genus was erected,. H ermilepidonotus gen. n. A diagnosis of the genus and a detailed description of the spe­ cies on the basis of over 250 specimens from the Sea of Japan, Okhotsk and Bering Sea, are given.
