Diagnosis Test free, elongate, proloculus followed by elongate tubular enrolled and high-spired second chamber; wall finely agglutinated with quartz particles in organic cement although proloculus may have little or no agglutinated particles, readily deformed in life, reddish or yellowish in color, more deeply colored near the proloculus; aperture at open end of the tube; in life may produce a flexible, agglutinated organic cocoonlike feeding structure that attaches to the substrate and rises erect above it, the individual foraminifer being oriented within the cocoon with aperture and pseudopodial net upward.
