Nomenclature In the checklist of Chinese sponges, Li Jinhe listed Mycale (Mycale) orenzii (Schulze), without further data. This is an obvious misspelling, because there is no 'orenzii' described by ?F. Schulze. The closest name that is likely meant is Esperia lorenzii Schmidt, 1862 from the Mediterranean [now considered accepted as M. (Aegogropila) syrinx (Schmidt, 1862)]. If the mistake indeed refers to Schmidt's name then the identity is a misapplication as Mediterranean species do not occur in Chinese waters. [details]
