Neotype Neotype for Paleanotus purpurea designated ECOSUR-265. See Paleanotus purpurea for details. A neotype relates to the original holotype specimen and name, and not to a particular subsequent name (which may be invalidated over time) - this concept is not presented rigorously in Cruz-Gómez, 2021 where the original name is not included in a synonymy. The author also makes the incorrect statement (page 4) referring to "the designation of neotype of Bhawatsonia purpurea n. comb." Instead the neotype can only be for the Paleanotus purpureus holotype. [details]
