Synonymy Von Lendenfeld (1915: 251) distinguished in the type material of this species two varietis, H. (P.) agujanum var.tenuis and lata, and in the case of tenuis two forms A and B. but Tabachnick & Menshenina (2002: 1253) proposed these to be all members of a single species. The names tenuis and lata need to be corrected to tenuelatum to meet the demands of ICZN 31.2 that these adjectival names need to agree in gender with the genus name. Of the two varieties, one has to be assigned status as the nominotypical variety and then to be renamed var. ajuganum ((ICZN art. 47.1). However, since all the Von Lendenfeld's (1915) specimens of H. (P.) ajuganum are conspecific, the name changes are deemed unnecessary. [details]
