Description This is submeandroid to monocentric, and as such may be mistaken for a Favites. It has the appearance of a monocentric P. daedalea in that its walls are thin and high, and septa are exsert, pointed and with ragged teeth. It is a very common inhabitant of reef flats and shallow areas down to about 3 metres deep. It is thus a hardy species, but even in these areas it requires moderate water exchange and is not usually seen in ponded areas. (Sheppard, 1998 <308>)
Colonies are massive or flat, subcerioid to meandroid, with thin walls Septa are thin, slightly exsert. Colour: variable dull or bright colours. Abundance: usually uncommon. (Veron, 1986 <57>) [details]
