Comparison Differs from Tropidocyathus by having ridged serrate independent costae and lacking alata edge costae. [details]

Diagnosis Corallum cuneiform , with a rounded base and elliptical in cross section; GCD up to 25 mm; theca imperforate; costae independent, ridged and serrate; septa hexamerally arranged in 4-5 cycles; pali present before all but last septal cycle (P1-3, 4); columella papillose to sublamellar. [details]

Remark This genus and family was monographed by Cairns (1997), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Four species: 2 Recent and two fossil (see Cairns, 1997). See Cairns (2004) for generic synonymy. [details]
