Comparison Similar to Balanophyllia (Eupsammia) but differs in propagating by transverse division. [details]

Diagnosis Corallum solitary and free, usually asesxually budding by transverse division from a basal anthocaulus; corallum usually cuneiform, some species with edge crests; epitheca absent; Pourtalès plan present; paliform lobes usually present; columella discrete and spongy; azooxanthellate. [details]

Remark This genus and family were monographed by Cairns (2001), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Seven species, including 6 fossil. [details]
