Validity A mystery name. Nomen nudum? The provenance of the name string "Paractius mirabilis Saint-Joseph, 1888" is unknown. One possible explanation is a label transcription error of "mirabilis" for Saint-Joseph's "mutabilis". A 'mirabilis' taxon is not in Saint-Joseph (1888:240-249) who described only Paractius mutabilis. It is not in Hartman's (1959, 1965) catalogue. No subsequent literature occurrence regarding this name has yet been found. However the name is recorded at NMHN Paris, both in the online catalogue and published in the checklist of Polychaeta types by Solis-Weiss et al. (2004). Paractius mutabilis is also listed (catalogue number #921-923).A reference for the NMHN catalogue instance is:
