Etymology Not explicitly stated, the species is clearly named after its collector, Gustaf von Düben: "Mossambique, unde retulit G. v. Düben" (Kinberg, 1865: 570). Gustaf Wilhelm Johann von Düben (b. Vargarn, Södermanland, Sweden, 25 May 1822; d. Nysund, Sweden, 14 July 1892), was a Swedish anthropologist and physician. In 1844-1846 he undertook a voyage as naturalist on the vessel "Prince Carl", visiting England, Cape of Good Hope, east coast of Africa, Arabia, India, and China. After his return he studied at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, graduating in medicine in 1858, being appointed in the same year as Professor of Anatomy and, in 1861, also in Physiology. He published an account of his travels entitled "Resa till Kap, Ostindien och Kina, åren 1844-1846". (Biographical notes from "Botanical Exploration of Southern Africa", by M. Gunn & L.E. Codd, A.A. Balkema, Cape Town, 1981). [details]
