Taxonomy Attributed to Johnston (1865) in the Hartman catalogue. However, as presented Johnston (p.251) was referencing a 'Sabella lumbricalis' as recorded by Montagu and by Pennant, rather than creating a new taxon. Also the McIntosh (1922) monograph has a synonymy history similar to this. However, there is a Sabella lumbricalis Fabricius, 1780 combination (now in Nicomache), and Montagu in turn was referencing Sabella lumbricalis Gmelin [13th edition of Linnaeus] Further checking needed. [details]
