Taxonomy Species uncertain. Augener (1913) stated that Syllis solida was very similar to Branchiosyllis exilis (Gravier, 1900), and that the two species could be synonymous. Fauvel (1917) considered this synonymy as doubtful, and this position was followed by other authors, like Hartman (1959). Finally, in the absence of type material Licher (1999) considered the species as a nomen dubium. [details]
