From editor or global species database
Original description Garvie (2025) discussed the uncertainties associated with the name Cordiera versus Cordieria Rouault, 1848, as well as the identities of the species involved. He concluded: "Without Casey (1903) specifically naming one species as type, the first in his work, Cordiera biconica (Whitfield, 1865) became the type, thus requiring reassignment of all other Cordieria species to Cordiera." However, this is not in line with the Code, Casey did not describe a new taxon, he merely used a different concept; Cordiera Casey does not exist. [details]
