Etymology aperata is formed from 'a', lack of, and Latin 'pera', pouch/bag. The authors imply perata is a femininised form, but pera is a feminine noun, not a modifiable adjective, and perhaps they were attempting an adjectival suffix. The name refers to the absence of interparapodial pouches. [details]
