Authority Rathke misidentified his material, which was not referable to any described species at the time (1806). James-Clark subsequently (1863) corrected the mistake and erected a new genus for the new species (unfortuntely using the same epithet) as: Haliclystus auricula James-Clark, 1863. Some subsequent authors erroneously identified Rathke 1806 as the author of this species. [details]
