Classification Fabricinae (correctly Fabriciinae) was upgraded in rank to the separate family Fabriciidae (qv) by Kupriyanova & Rouse (2008) [details]

Classification Rioja (1923: 50) included genera Jasmineira Langerhans (now in subfamily Sabellinae)and Oridia Rioja (now as Amphicorina Claparède, 1864 in Myxicolinae) as well as the nominal genus Fabricia Blainville in his new subfamily Fabricinae [details]

Publication date Hartman (1951) wrongly attributes Fabricinae to Rioja, 1917, instead of 1923. Unfortunately she does not include Rioja, 1917 in her literature cited. Fabricinae is not mentioned in the five articles Rioja published in 1917. Possibly this is a simple lapsus by Hartman as Rioja 1917 is the date for the sabellid Oridia name created by Rioja which she also mentions. [details]

Spelling The original spelling of Fabricinae used by Rioja (1923: 15, 50) was silently corrected to Fabriciinae by Johansson (1927: 112), but usage as Fabricinae generally continued until the late 1960's, when Fabriciinae slowly replaced it in taxonomic works, for example Jones (1974: 218). Usage continued beyond that period in ecological works. Fauchald (1977: 136) still used Fabricinae in his 'pink book' of definitions and keys. [details]
