Abstract

A new genus and species of asteroid, Knightaster bakeri is described from 30-54 m off the Poor Knights Islands, New Zealand. This new species seems most closely related to the highly variable Cycethra verrucosa (Philippi); both genera belong in the family Ganeriidae.
