Type designation Blake 1984, did not stipulate which genus (there were two) was the type genus for the group, Plesiastropecten and Xandarosaster. and there is now one more. Based on Blake's usage, it implied that Plesiastropecten would be the type genus but that was not explicitly stated. He may have amended this somewhere. In fact, there are some workers who doubt that members of the Paleobenthopectininae are benthopectinids... [details]
