Neotype A neotype for Lumbricus squamatus has been published by Surugiu et al (2022: 13, 17 (justification)). They several times state it is a neotype for Scolelepis squamatus, but that is a subsequent combination. It is a neotype for Lumbricus squamatus. Their neotype specimen is as follows: "North-East Atlantic Ocean, North Sea, Germany: Helgoland, Dune, southern beach, 54.1812632 N, 7.9102538 E, eulittoral (0–0.5m depth), 23 Aug 2018, medium to fine sand, leg. V. Surugiu & K. Meißner, complete specimen, fixed in formalin, preserved in ethanol (ZMH-P 29016)."The justification is as follows: "Original type material is not known to exist (D. Eibye-Jacobsen, personal communication, September 27, 2013; Oug et al., 2014) (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999, Art. 75.3.4). Based on the availability of new specimens from the type locality we herein provide an amended description and molecular characterization of S. squamata. A neotype for S. squamata is designated to define the nominal taxon objectively and to secure the stability of nomenclature. The proposed neotype is consistent with the original description (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999, Art. 75.3.5) and was collected at the type locality (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999, Art. 75.3.6). Neotype (ZMH-P 29016) and topotypes (ZMH-P 29017–18, ZMH-P 29046–57) were deposited at the Zoological Museum in Hamburg […] We have brought this matter to the attention of our colleagues dealing with Scolelepis (Nancy Maciolek, Danny Eibye-Jacobsen and Andreas Bick) " [details]
