Nomenclature Sars erected Terebellides stroemii (using double i). Other variants with one i are incorrect, and the spelling 'stroemii' is in wide use for many species names in other phyla. Parapar & Moreira (2008) noted that since the original description, the specific epithet has been written in five different ways. They elect to "adopt stroemii, the most widely used today." However, it is not a matter of prevailing usage or preference. ICZN Art 33.4 requires the original spelling to be used. Other variants are incorrect subsequent spellings. [details]
