Grammatical gender Fraussen et al. (2021) treated Anomalisipho as a genus of feminine grammatical gender. However the Latin noun Sipho is masculine. [details]
Type species Dall [1916, Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, 29: 8] considered that Dautzenberg & Fischer had misidentified the type species and established the name Colus dautzenbergi for "Sipho verkruzeni D. & F. 1912, not of Kobelt, 1876", i.e. for specimens from between Norway and Bear Island illustrated by Dautzenberg & H. Fischer (1912: 99-100, pl. 4 fig. 8) as Sipho verkruezeni Kobelt, 1876. Dall [1918, Proceedings of the United States National Museum, 54(2234): 213] did not refer to his 1916 paper, and again established Colus dautzenbergii for the Sipho verkruzeni of Dautzenberg & Fischer.
