Distribution Distribution: Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Dorsal and anal fin rays bear small spines or bucklers at the base. Abdomen with 8 or 9 spinous plates. A large round black spot encircled by a yellow ring centrally located on the body in some species. Adults with long filaments trailing from about 10 spines. Scales small and rudimentary, if present.
