Introduced species remark Cantone et al (1997) reported on a single specimen collected in the Tyrrhenian Sea and suggested this was an undescribed species, based on differences from L. atlanticum. Although they also mentioned the possibility L. atlanticum was introduced, they certainly did not maintain this was the case. Subsequent adoption of this species as an alien (eg in the European Alien Species Information Network (EASIN) database) is unwarranted. [details]
