Etymology The name of the species is derived from the British Mary Read, active as female pirate in the Caribbean together with Anne Bonny, birth about 1685, death 1721. One popular name of Kinorhyncha is “muddragon” (see Neuhaus 2013) which rises the expectation of a fierceful animal. Hence the association with pirates’s names in this paper. [details]
