Synonymy Treated as a synonym of Eteone foliosa Quatrefages, 1865 by North Sea Benthos ecologists; needs confirmation. [details]
Synonymy E. lactea may be a junior synonym of E. foliosa. If so, the distribution of the latter is extended to include the Mediterranean and from the Gulf of St Lawrence to Florida. Wilson (1988:414) discusses E. lactea (as H. lactea) and H. foliosa as possible synonyms. The status of E. lactea as type species of Hypereteone would not be affected by this synonymy.
