Fraseroscyphus, a newly proposed genus of the family Sertulariidae, is characterized by having gonothecae arising from hydrothecae. It is founded for the single species originally described as Sertularella sinuosa, a hydroid known from California. A previously undescribed specialised clinging organ allows this species to colonise coralline algae growing adjacent to colonised thalli. Descriptors: FRASEROSCYPHUS SINUOSUS new combination; SERTULARELLA SINUOSA fig. 1. (v.1993, French summary).
