Taxonomic remark In the original description Lilljeborg wrote: " Among the varying forms of the same species [varius], I have been able to distinguish three, which I described in my public lectures on these powerful animals in 1881 as separate species, under the names given below, but which, according to what I have subsequently learned, appear to overlap each other, and which I have therefore only included as forms or varieties of one species, although some of them may possibly prove to be distinct species upon more thorough investigation."
