71 species from the Atlantic side of the Patagonian shelf from 8 families of the Hydrozoa Thecata (Haleciidae, Phialellidae, Laodiceidae, Lafoeidae, Campanulariidae, Syntheciidae, Serulariidae, Plumulariidae) are described. 22 species of the genera Acryptolaria, Orthopyxis, Amphisbetia, Sertularella, Symplectoscyphus, Thuiaria, Schizotricha, Oswaldella and Nemertesia are new to science. Types are designated. After STEPANYANTS (1979), 61 species of thecate hydroids were known. Now 130 species in 30 genera and 9 families are known. Originally, all information formed part of an unpublished thesis by the author (E. B. 1991). Seven species were revised and their description extended: Sertularella cruzensis sp. nov. (Sert. conica sensu VERVOORT 1972a), Sertularella fuegonensis sp. nov. (Sert. picta sensu VERVOORT 1972a), Sertularella hermanosensis sp. nov. (Sert. geodiae sensu VERVOORT 1972a), Sertularella sanmatiasensis sp. nov. (Sert. polyzonias sensu BLANCO 1984), Sertularella vervoorti sp. nov. (Sert. cylindritheca nach VERVOORT 1972a), Symplectoscyphus leloupi sp. nov. (Symp. modestus sensu LELOUP 1974), Symplectoscyphus vervoorti sp. nov. (Symp. paulensis after VERVOORT 1972a). The Identification of 3 species has been corrected: Hebella striata (former Filellum sp. after VERVOORT 1972a), Sertularella allmani (fruher Sert. picta after MILLARD 1971) and Sertularella robusta (fruher Sert. parvula nach VERVOORT 1972a). Six species from the literature were revised and changed into new species: Orthopyxis eurycalx sp. nov. (former Campanularia tincta Hincks var. eurycalyx after HARTLAUB 1905), Sertularella grandensis sp. nov. (former Sert. conica after NUTTING 1904), Sertularella mogotesensis sp. nov. (former Sert. atlantica after BLANCO 1967, Sert. striate after BLANCO 1974), Sertularella stepanyantae sp. nov. (former Sert. robusta after VERVOORT 1972a, CORRALES et al. 1980, Sert. polyzonias var. robusta after STEPANYANT5 1979), Plumularia vervoorti sp. nov. (former Plum. sp. after VERVOORT 1972a) and Lytocarpia vervoorti sp. nov. (former Thecocarpus myriophyllum after VERVOORT 1972a, Aglaophenia patagonica after LELOUP 1974). Eleven species are new to science and described: Acryptolaria patagonica sp. nov., Amphisbetia norte sp. nov., Sertularella argentinica. sp. nov., Sertularella jorgensis sp. nov., Symplectoscyphus chubuticus sp. nov., Symplectoscyphus paraglacialis sp. nov., Symplectoscyphus salvadorensis sp. nov., Symplectoscyphus singularis sp. nov., Symplectoscyphus valdesicus sp. nov., Schizotricha binematotheka sp. nov. and Oswaldella herwigi sp. nov. All new names are made available by the present paper.
