AB  - Re-examination of all available material indicates that fragments of more than one species form the basis of the description of Disyringa dissimilis. Additionally, the widely accepted picture of the functional anatomy of the forms appears to be a misinterpretation.
A re-interpretation of Disyringa anatomy, together with data from Tribrachium specimens and some apparently closely related forms from the Caribbean, indicates that there may exist one or more groups of
tetractinomorph species with peculiar adaptations for the generation of inhalant currents through the interstices of unconsolidated sediments.
