Distribution Known from a wide area of the North Atlantic: from Denmark Strait, the northwest, southwest, and southeast of Iceland, Faroes and Hebrides, Rockall, and along the coast of Norway. In Norway it is common in depths of 80-300 m, frequently found together with the bank-forming scleractinian Lophelia pertusa. Elsewhere the shallowest records are form the 75 m in the Faroes. In the Iceland – Faroes area this species has been obtained as deep as 1400 m. Type locality: Nordmør, Norway.
