Etymology "This species is named for the late Dr. J. Frederick Grassle, prominent deep-sea benthic ecologist of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the Rutgers University Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences. As part of his numerous expeditions to deep-sea locations, Dr. Grassle provided this author and other investigators with numerous polychaetes from vents and other habitats that have resulted in a rich harvest of new species" (Blake, 2020: 44).
