Spelling Sollas (1886, 1888) spelled the genus name Myriastra also as Myriaster without apologizing or making a correcting note. In the 1886 Preliminary paper, the first use of either name was Myriastra (on p. 186), but when describing and naming the various species in that paper he consistently used Myriaster (pp. 188-189). In the definitive monograph of 1888, he used Myriastra, citing the species erected in 1886 as members of Myriaster as synonyms of renamed Myriastra species, which may be interpreted as an admission that Myriastra was the intended name.
