Type locality Includes Berehaven Harbour, Ireland, from placename at approx. 51.6454, -9.8918. McIntosh (1900) states his material is from two, if not three geolocations, namely "from Berehaven (Royal Irish Academy's Expedition), from various stations in the Mediterranean during the 'Porcupine' Expedition of 1870, and a closely allied, if not identical form was obtained by Canon Norman off Bergen." So, lacking label information from any material deposited by McIntosh, the type locality can for now be said to be jointly Berehaven Harbour, Ireland, and unspecified localities in the Mediterranean Sea. Only Berehaven Harbour can be precisely located. [details]
