Publication date Sometimes cited as 1857, however, appears to have been published 1858.
Desor's Synopsis was published in parts and in the copy of the book in the NHM London the original dates of all livraisons and plates are given (the entire work was republished as a bound book in 1858). These dates were passed to F A Bather by Jules Lambert in 1905. The pages including the description of H. orbignyanus were apparently published in livraison VI (p. 321-490) in 1858. [details]
