Authority Mortensen (1943a: p. 178) attributes this species to Valenciennes - in the source mentioned by him (L. Agassiz, 1841 - the only record of the name that could be found) Valenciennes is not mentioned. [details]
Status Mortensen (1943a: p. 178) considers this species a synonym of Mespilia globulus - how he was able to judge remains unclear, as no description of that name seems ever to have been published. [details]
