Status The family Menopygidae as treated by Lambert & Thiéry (1911: p. 326-327) included Desorella and Infraclypeus besides the type-genus Menopygus. A cladistic analysis carried out by Saucéde et al. (2007: fig. 6), however, shows that the family Menopygidae is paraphyletic if these additional genera are included. It is thus restricted here to include only the type-genus. Desorella and Infraclypeus (plus Pyrinodia and Pachyclypeus) were placed in the monophyletic family Infraclypeidae by Saucède et al. (2007), which forms the sister-taxon to Neognathostomata + Microstomata. Barras (2007) used the name Desorellidae for what is called Infraclypeidae by Saucède et al (2007). [details]
