From editor or global species database
New combination Baker (1998, p. 282) made Amblypneustes pachistus H.L. Clark, 1912 a junior subjective synonym of Amblypneustes elevatus (Hutton, 1872) but did not consider the subspecies Amblypneustes pachistus ruber Döderlein, 1914 in that work. The latter thus is now an “orphan” subspecies that is not attached to an accepted species – we thus have created an entry for Amblypneustes elevates ruber despite the fact that this name has (to our knowledge) never appeared in print. [details]
