Thalmannita in the South Indian Paleocene, outside the West European and Tehyan biogeographic realms, is recorded for the first time. The genus has two existing species madrugaensis andhafeezi. The following four new species are added namely, Thalmannita niniyurensis n.s. T. adanakurchchensis n.sp., T. gowdai n.sp. and T.sastryi n.sp. The Thalmannita is a well known guide fossil of the Paleocene age.
