The foraminifera have been discovered by the writer in great quantities only in the Ashiya group of the Paleogene formations of the Chikuho coal-field. The Paleogene formations in Kyushu except in the Ashiya group include almost nothing but Cyclammina. The abundance of the foraminifera except Cyclammina in the Ashiya group suggests that they have been deposited under different circumstances than the Paleogene coal bearing formations in
other parts of Kyushu. Five new species are described.
