Paratypes of Trochammina hadai Uchio, 1962
Description Eleven (11) Trochammina hadai Uchio, 1962 paratype specimens from "off the Shinano River, Niigata-ken, Japan" were photographed (EDOF images) at the National Museum of Natural History - Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., USA.According to Prof. Dr Hiroshi Kitazato (written communication dated September 8, 2025), the paratypes represent two morphotypes: lobed and smooth. According to Kitazato and Matsushita (1990), who completed the life cycle of T. hadai, the "smooth" paratypes are microspherical, and the "lobed" paratypes are megalospherical. Microspherical paratypes release many gametes, reproduce sexually, and megalospherical paratypes produce fewer than ten single-sex gametes.
