A new hydromedusa Eugotoea armata sp. n. is described from the specimens collected in the Southern Ocean (Orkney Islands, the Weddell Sea and at the Cape Norvegia). The new medusa differs from E. petalina Margulis, 1989, by the row of nematocysts on ribs of the exumbrella. Verges are not projected over the exumbrella; brown spots are absent in verges. The tentacle is comparatively longer in E. armata than in E. petalina. The top of umbrella is not as smooth as in E. petalina, but possesses several obtuse conical projections. Descriptors: EUGOTOEA ARMATA, EUGOTOEA PETALINA
