Taxonomic remark No type species has been designated so far for the genus Lizusa Haeckel, 1879. Haeckel included in this genus two nominal species: Lizusa multicilia Haeckel, 1879 and Medusa octocilia Dalyell, 1847. Both are now regarded as Bougainvillia species. Lizusa is thus a synonym of Bougainvillia Lesson, 1830 and Lizusidae a synonym of Bougainvillidae Lütken, 1850. [details]
