A hydroid first described as Reticularia annulata Watson, 1973 from the Great Australian Bight is the type species of a new genus Corystolona in the family Clavidae, subfamily Corydendriinae Calder, 1988. The simple, stolonal colonies of Corystolona lack nematophores and have internal gonophores. Descriptor: Corystolona RICERCANANDO
