The Grand Caribbean region comprises the whole Caribbean biogeographic province (including Bermuda to the north up to the central coast of Brazil) and the southern portion of the Carolinean biogeographic province (from South Carolina to the northern Gulf of Mexico). This checklist is enlarged and a complement to a recent publication; it contains 1240 species, 447 genera, 69 families, and 280 references. There might be sorne 500-600 undescribed species in this region. It differs from the previous list in that it contains further information about the papers reporting such species but such inclusion is after 1975.
