Etymology The origin of 'Sige' as used by Malmgren as a new genus name is unknown. There is no obvious classical use, but in a Germanic usage Sige means victory or success [details]Grammatical gender Feminine. Malmgren treated Sige as feminine when he named the type species Sige fusigera. Subsequent authors have followed that assignment. Pleijel (1990) in a review has no comment on gender and created the recombination Sige parvicirrus [details]
