'Acrocnida brachiata'
Description 2013.12.18 Er werd een wel zeer bijzondere slangster aangetroffen in het Van Veen staal dat genomen werd op station 780 (een paar mijl uit de kust voor Zeebrugge). Een ingegraven slangster 'Acrocnida brachiata'. De eerste melding van de soort, in België, dateert van 1994. Het ging toen om een aangespoeld exemplaar op het strand van Oostduinkerke. In het Belgisch deel van de Noordzee is deze ingegraven slangster best zeldzaam, meer naar het westen toe komt ze algemener voor. Op deze foto is het beschadigd organisme de ingegraven slangster, de andere is de gewone slangster 'Ophiura ophiura'.(overgenomen van https://www.facebook.com/rvsimonstevin)

This species has recently been divided into two species, A. brachiata and A. spatulispina. They cannot be identified without close inspection and thus the identify of the damaged specimen on this image is doubtful
