Studies on Upper Paleocene ostracodes from Niger (eight outcrops) yielded 44 species, of which thirteen are new: Acanthocythereis niameyensis, Argilloecia ? mentesensis, Buntonia pyriformis, Bythocypris fosteralii, Cytherelloidea musacea, Cytherelloidea sigmoidalis, Eocytheropteron trapezoidalis, Hermanites chadaouankaensis, Hermanites tahouaensis, Isohabrocythere langi, Paracosta transsaharaensis, Quadracythere kaoensis, Schizocythere nigeromeridionalis, Uroleberis uppsalaensis. Four species have been left in open nomenclature. One new subgenus is described: Alocopocythere (Isalocopocythere). The main feature of this infralittoral, sometimes circalittoral environment, almost without Buntonia, is given by its assemblage: one part migrating from the Southern Nigerian gulf, the other part spreading from the epicontinental transsaharian sea and further North from Libya and the Middle-East. The Kao area constitutes the center of the faunal mingling.
